Sochi Winter Olympics – 2014

The 2014 Winter Olympics, officially the 22nd Olympic Winter Games, are scheduled to take place from 7th to 23rd February 2014, in Sochi, Russia. The Winter Olympics have a reputation for showcasing daredevil athletes careering across ice and snow with little regard for the powers of gravity. The spectacular crashes of downhill skiing appear to delight spectators as much as the grace and artistry of figure skating.

Olympic athletes train year round for their moment in the spotlight. They use some common training techniques to excel in their chosen sport and prevent injury.

Despite all the hard work to prevent injury, at least one in 10 athletes sustained an injury during the 2010 Winter Olympics, held in Canada, reveals research published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. This resulted in almost one in four athletes (22%) being unable to train or compete.

Those nations with the least injuries have shown that specific movement and injury prevention screenings took place in the build up to the Olympics.

The Performance Matrix is the world’s most effective and comprehensive movement screening, analysis and training system available to individuals and athletes who want to improve movement efficiency, optimise musculoskeletal health, reduce injury risk and enhance performance.

At Summit we can complete “The Performance Matrix” screening on you. Helping you achieve your 2014 goals with better efficiency and less risk of injury. Speak to a member of the team for more information.
