Introduction

We have some new and very exciting equipment available at our clinics. Here at Summit Physiotherapy, our main focus is to keep you injury-free and out of our clinics for as long as possible. However, when you do visit us, we ensure you leave us performing better than ever. In this blog, I will be discuss our new equipment and services in detail and how they can benefit you as an individual.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber

Are you feeling like you don’t have enough energy before or after working out? Perhaps you’d like to boost your performance when performing a sport? Anyone can benefit from our Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber. Whether you are an athlete seeking shorter recovery times or a stay at home mom who feels burned out. Benefits also include:

  • Stimulates the creation of new blood cells
  • Reduce inflammation and pain
  • Helps prevent reinjuring target areas
  • Supporting the immune system
  • Supports oxygenation to cardiac tissue

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a treatment where 100% oxygen is administered under pressure greater than one absolute atmosphere. Breathing in pure oxygen under increased pressure, allows extra oxygen to be taken up by the bloodstream and dissolved more quickly. The extra oxygen can help where healing is slowed down by inflammation or where blood supply is limited by damage to the tissues.

Running Analysis

Whether you’re a professional athlete or you’ve just started a couch to 5k training plan, correcting your form will only work wonders for you and your running. Whatever level you are, you’ll be less likely to pick up an injury and you will see a noticeable difference in your performance.

Previous injury, particularly to muscles, is a risk factor for further injury. This can be caused by movement patterns that place higher stresses on certain structures. Alternatively, previous injury can lead to changes in movement patterns or compensations that may increase the likelihood of further injury.

By using state of the art GAIT analysis technology, balance testing and treadmill analysis we can analyse you’re running patterns. We do this through high-speed measurement and high sensor resolution which offers a detailed view of the pressure distribution and foot movement. Once we have measured the pressure points in your feet, we can start to collect personal and bespoke data. We can then use this data to put a personalised plan in place to correct your form and help you stay injury-free.

Rehab Pilates

Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements. Pilates emphasizes proper postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance. Athletes with better core strength have shown more dynamic control of their movements and are less likely to be injured.

With a sliding platform, known as a carriage, on which you lie, sit, kneel or stand to perform different exercises. This highly versatile piece of equipment allows for an unlimited range of exercises to be performed, many of which train key muscles you probably never knew existed.

With a career spanning over 20 years in the health and fitness industry, Ruth brings lots of knowledge and experience to the team. She is extremely passionate about what she does and really enjoys working with a wide range of people, from complete beginners to seasoned athletes.

Golf Analysis

Injuries not only stop you playing golf, socialising with your friends on the course but can also affect your swing when you return from injury. The way we swing the club is dependent on how our bodies move. Any muscle imbalance or tightness can alter how you swing a club. Injuries can lead to changing how we move our body (or lead to fear to move it), therefore this leads to an altered swing pattern.

The first thing we do is understand why you have your pain and work to correct that, allowing you to return to a pain-free life. Following that, using the Golf Matrix Movement Screen we analyse your movement to fully understand how you move, how these movements could have led to your injury and also how they affect your swing. We work with you to correct these resulting in you being better than before.
