Congratulations to Tony Gaskel and Bolton Yoga’s fundraiser raising £180 for Bolton Hospice.
On 15th January 2012, in conjunction with Rimpy Batta from Lotus Petal Healing, Andy Hosgood from Summit Physiotherapy and Marian Rubins from Whitefield Pilates, as well as a guided meditation by Hazel Devine, we took part in a fundraising event for Bolton Hospice at No Gym Required in Horwich.
The day consisted of three one hour yoga sessions of differing styles, and Summit Physiotherapy offering Sports Massages. We also convinced Andy from Summit to take part in two of the sessions, and despite him not having attended classes for well over six months he successfully completed both sessions without the need for resuscitation or the services of his colleagues in attendance – which just goes to show the long term benefits of attending yoga classes!!!
Tony Gaskell eased the class into proceedings with a gentle introduction to yoga, including some pranayama and vinyasa flow. Following a short break for herbal tea, Rimpy Batta then stepped in with a dynamic Hatha Yoga class, followed by Marian who introduced the class to the benefits of Iyengar yoga, followed by a relaxing session of Yin Yoga, and finally to Hazel for a fabulous guided meditation.
Many thanks to those who attended and took part, we raised £180 for Bolton Hospice and it was a valuable experience for us to organise a community fundraising event from end to end – something we have never done before, and we will look to take this forward and arrange similar events again in the future
