Gait Analysis & Custom Orthotics

We are delighted to be able to offer Footscan Analysis & Custom 3D printed Phits Orthotics

Whether you’re an elite athlete, recreational walker or stood on your feet all day at work, our orthotics can help improve your movement efficiency and minimise your risk of injury or future complications.

Footscan GAIT Analysis

By using state of the art Footscan GAIT analysis we are provided with bespoke data about your personal dynamics. Evidence-based algorithms then translate the data to help us with your design of orthotics.

Whether you’re at the top of your field, or just exercising for fun, you want to play sports without having to worry about the risk of injury.

Sometimes sports can be taxing on our bodies and the risk of injury increases. Extra support for your movement can help to offload injuries or even better, reduce the likelihood of injuries.

Custom Orthotics can assist with:

  1. Plantar Fasciitis/Fasciopath
  2. Achilles Tendinopathy
  3. Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (Shin Splints)
  4. Patellar Femoral Pain Syndrome

Signs you may need Custom Orthotics:

  1. Foot pain or swelling
  2. Sharp heel pain
  3. Flat foot or high arch
  4. Problems with balance
  5. Shoes wearing down unevenly

So, How Does It Work?

  • First a static ‘pressure snapshot’ is taken with the client standing still over the pressure plate. Then a live foot-balance and posture recording is taken again with the client standing still. This shows us your weight distribution between each foot (left-right), between the front-rear of each foot and then the variance within all 4 quadrants (left/right front/back). It will also show how your centre of gravity is positioned.
  • Next, we observe the client walking/running over the scan. This provides us with several detailed screens ready for the analysis phase. Screens include:
    1. 2D: showing peak pressures
    2. Risk Analysis: indicating the risk of the client developing a potential injury over a given area
    3. 3D: A 3D visualisation of the 2D peak pressures
    4. Load rate: showing the rate at which force is applied to each anatomical zone on the foot.
  • After analysing all the data, it is now our job to run through the prescription section of your orthotics. This is based on all the clinical and scan data taken up to this point as well as keeping in mind any individual goals.
  • Once manufactured and quality checked, join us for the official unboxing of your brand-new 3D printed custom-made orthotics devices and have them fitted to your running trainers, golf shoes, football boots, or just your walking boots!

How to prepare for a session

Aside from a positive attitude, you should bring the following items to one of our physiotherapy sessions:

Suitable Clothing
e.g; Shorts, Strappy top, Sportswear etc.

Glasses
(if you require them to read forms)

Medical History
Please remember to inform us of any prior or ongoing medical problems that you have even if you think they seem unrelated to the pain you are seeking treatment for.

our aim here at summit is to keep our clients relaxed, and for them to enjoy their time with us. out staff are friendly and more than happy to answer any questions you may have on your condition and treatment.

Each new client/condition will have an initial consultation where one of our skilled clinicians will take a detailed and confidential history and physical assessment. Then, using Summit’s education board, we will explain why the condition has occurred, allowing you to properly understand the cause of your pain/problem.

From here a relevant, evidence-based and up-to-date treatment plan can be put into action.

You will be given a home exercise programme (HEP) at the end of the session, in conjunction with your treatment. Not only will this maximise the benefits of the treatment and, it will allow you to self-manage your symptoms where possible.

Summit also promotes positive lifestyle behaviours by teaching individuals to self-manage their condition, which improves confidence, sense of wellbeing and quality of life.

With these new acquired skills, we can give you a long-term solution so you can prevent reoccurrence of your condition and return to activity with confidence.

Summit physiotherapy is committed to its clients and expects commitment from them in return. All of our clients must realise that their rehabilitation and recovery requires a team effort.

Above all, we are here to help you get better and give you the confidence to embrace the treatment. A happy client means a quicker recovery, and that’s what we provide here at Summit.
