Here at Summit physiotherapy, a large number of our clients at our Chorley clinic are runners (from 5k runners to athletes). Therefore, we thought it’d be a good idea to provide some information on the running clubs in Chorley. Running clubs are a great way to improve your running, socialise and have some great fun!
Chorley Runners is an award-winning, friendly and inclusive group. They are based at Astley Park in Chorley. Their motto is “My Run My Pace”. All their sessions are suitable for all running abilities, including those who may have completed a Couch to 5K course. Their aim is to make running a fun and sociable activity which keeps everyone involved fit. To ensure this happens, all the groups will loop or pause at regular intervals to ensure no runner (regardless)of their ability or pace) is ever left behind.
The group originally started as a few friends coming together in April 2015, following the first Chorley 25K course. They were set up as the C25K follow on run group and then became a ‘RunTogether’ group in October 2016. RunTogether groups are fun, organised runs with other people, led by qualified group leaders.

Chorley Athletic and Triathlon Club
The Chorley Athletic club was first created in 2012 from the members of two well established Chorley based clubs. (Chorley Harriers & Tri and Chorley Athletic Club)
The club is a grassroots club and welcomes anyone, of virtually any age or ability. If you are interested in running, walking, throwing, jumping and multi-event disciplines such as triathlon, this is the club for you. It has grown on its reputation for being fun and friendly, but also with coaches able to develop athletes to the very highest levels. Club members vary from competitors on the international and national stages, through to people who just want to get a little fitter. The club is run by volunteers is also affiliated to England Athletics.

Chorley 10K Run
Even though it may not be a running group, we thought we had to involve the event because it’s local and a great way to improve your running and give back to the community.
The Chorley 10k and Chorley fun run will be back for the second time ever this year. The races will start and finish in Chorley town centre. The participants take on a two-lap traffic-free course that takes in the beautiful surroundings of Astley Park. The 10K race will be chip timed with the results available on the “Check Out Chorley” website with 24 hours of the race ending.
The Chorley 10K in 2019 sold out in a matter of weeks so make sure you are quick to book your place!
